Brian Huskey
Executive Director |
Brian Huskey joined the Great Smokies Health Foundation as Executive Director in May 2022. Born and raised in Charlotte, NC, Brian has an extensive background in the non-profit and government sectors in grants management, program design and implementation, and organizational strategic visioning. His prior work includes fund development and program oversight for a multidisciplinary homeless services center in Nashville, Tennessee; permanent supportive housing development and supportive services program implementation for Tennessee’s largest private, non-profit affordable housing developer, and affordable housing lending at the Midlands Housing Trust Fund, where he served as Executive Director and led the organization from its launch to certification by the United States Department of Treasury as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). Prior to joining the team at the Great Smokies Health Foundation, Brian served in the City of Asheville’s Community Development Division as the Continuum of Care Homelessness Lead. He was educated at Aquinas College (Nashville, TN) and the Episcopal Divinity School (Cambridge, MA).

Elaine Carter
GSHF Thrift Shop Manager Elaine Carter joined the team in January 2023 as the Foundation's Thrift Stop Manager. She brings many years of office and retail experience. Elaine loves her family and friends. She enjoys to sew, garden and being creative. The best part of her job is is getting to help the community and make a difference.

Betty Reagan
Executive Assistant / Grants Coordinator Betty Reagan joined the team in May 2023. She serves as the Executive Assistant and Grants Coordinator. Prior to joining the foundation, she worked with local Social Services for 17+ years. Her goal is to catalyzed some key “behind-the-scenes” Foundation operational tasks, improving capacity to get out into the communities we serve and better understand the needs our grantees have to more effectively serve their various constituencies.
